Tiraspol, 7 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Some «5+2» format members want to force Pridnestrovie and Russia out of all negotiating venues — either «5+2» or the JCC — or to freeze their work indefinitely. Pridnestrovie is in favour of a negotiating process in any format — both «5+2» and «1+1» — and is ready to discuss issues of concern to ordinary people. This is what President Krasnoselsky said during a press briefing following his working visit to Moscow and meeting with Dmitry Rogozin.
«We have traditionally advocated the unfreezing of this format ['5+2', the immediate call of such a meeting to discuss without preconditions issues of concern to ordinary citizens. I proposed Igor Dodon on 30 March that we sign an appeal to the OSCE chairman-in-office, Mr Kurtz, to convene a meeting in this format immediately. Mr Dodon seemed to agree, but took a time-out to think it over before signing it. There was no refusal," said Krasnoselsky.
The president came to the conclusion that had this appeal been signed, the OSCE chairman-in-office would have convened such a meeting. And the fact that no reply had been received so far indicates that Moldova was not interested in calling a «5+2» meeting and was not ready to solve issues of concern to ordinary people.
The president also commented on the expulsion of five Russian diplomats from Moldova, four of whom were JCC members.
«Expelling Russian diplomats is a step particularly aimed, in my opinion, at paralysing the Joint Control Commission. This is very dangerous in the present situation as the JCC is the governing body of the peacekeeping operation. So, of course, Russia needs to make a quick decision and appoint new diplomats," Vadim Krasnoselsky believes.
