Tiraspol, 16 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In an interview with Novosti Pridnestrovya, the head of the Pridnestrovian delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC), Oleg Belyakov, commented on the Internet video showing the transportation of new Hummer vehicles on one of the Moldovan motorways. According to Russia's Novaya Gazeta, the American military hardware is meant for the needs of the Moldovan army.
Tiraspol sees it as an element of provocation. «We remember the 2012 situation when joint exercises of the National Army of Moldova and US National Guard were held near the Security Zone and inside it. The exercises involved Hummers equipped with large-calibre machine guns, various [weapon] systems. In other words, the National Army is supplied with corresponding tools," noted Oleg Belyakov.
He stressed that Pridnestrovie is wary of such news.
«We understand perfectly well that any hardware, any weapons are used for certain aggressive purposes. We very much hope that in no way will this relate to the Security Zone and the territory of Pridnestrovie," added the co-chairman.
