Tiraspol, 30 August. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In the past years cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Russia has increased and intensified, reaching quite a new level, which is testified by specific achievements. This is what President Yevgeny Shevchuk said at a press conference today, summing up the results of the country's foreign policy over the past five years. He recalled a considerable number of interagency agreements signed within the framework of the Rogozin-Shevchuk protocol which gave way to the implementation of real projects.
The biggest of them, carried out through ANO Eurasian Integration, cost over 4.5 billion Russian roubles, thanks to which the republic will have 14 social facilities (half of them have already been built), including schools, kindergartens, universities and medical centres. The president underscored that Pridnestrovie had not seen such a large scale project throughout the 26 years of its existence.
In the nearest future the reconstruction of the irrigation system will be launched, which will significantly help improve the situation in the agricultural sector.
Another prospective area of cooperation is trade. The Russian market is strategically important for Pridnestrovie with new connections being actively established now, but a serious breakthrough is impeded, among others, by external factors.
«Unfortunately, we have not managed to implement everything in this field due to external reasons, including the situation in Russia's markets and the external factors that affected Pridnestrovie," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
Referring to other spheres in Russian-Pridnestrovian relations, the president recalled a simplified procedure of acquiring Russian citizenship and pension.
«We have managed to organise the work of the ambulatory consular office in a more contemporary vein, which has made it possible, first of all, to reduce queues. And the most important thing is that a simplified procedure of acquiring Russian citizenship has been resumed… I want to remind you that this was impossible until 2012… A positive example of cooperation with Russia is also the fact that it is the first time in the history of Russian-Pridnestrovian relations when Russian citizens residing in Pridnestrovie can apply for and receive Russian pension here without complicated procedures and trips to Russia," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
The president also recalled other accomplishments achieved by the MFA and which are noticeable for republic residents.
«We have almost agreed for the first time with our Moldovan partners that our citizens can travel through Kishinev airport with our or other documents. Although problems occur from time to time, they are settled through negotiations, and certain tensions are lifted, and this is very important, taking into account what is going on the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian border and restrictions on trips through Odessa airport," underscored the head of state.
The unblocking of railway communication has become an achievement for economic entities. And all this has become possible despite a difficult political situation in Moldova which has lacked permanent government, which naturally has affected the negotiation process. According to Yevgeniy Shevchuk, it was constantly stalling.
As a result of negotiations with European partners, Pridnestrovie has managed to retain the possibility of trading with EU countries.
«Of course, we don't have any agreement with the European Union, but I believe that the government's chief accomplishment is that it was able to convince our EU partners to provide conditions for selling our goods to European markets in 2016. And this is the positive result of foreign-policy cooperation," said the president.
