Tiraspol, 15 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Yevgeny Shevchuk told Russia's Argumenty i Fakty newspaper about his plans for the upcoming presidential elections. According to Yevgeniy Shevchuk, official information on whether he will run or not will be announced closer to the launch of the presidential campaign — 12 September. «As for now, I can say that my supporters propose and insist on my running for a second term," noted the president.
In case Yevgeny Shevchuk decides to participate in the elections, in his second term he wishes to focus on social policy. «If I do run, I'd like, undoubtedly, to finish the implementation of social projects related to schools and kindergartens and continue pursuing socially oriented policy," the paper cites the president as saying.
Also, according to Yevgeny Shevchuk, in his second term he would like to consider the possibility of improving the system of power in Pridnestrovie, including changes in competences and authorities of bodies of power from the point of view of the efficiency in fulfilling tasks set by people.
The president added that circulating rumours about his taking a post in the Crimean government, the mass media went too far.
«They overdid, of course. Our media disseminates many rumours today. There are various proposals, but they have nothing in common with what is currently rumoured. I have friends in various positions and in commercial organisations, and they do make certain proposals, but I'm not ready to speak about it so far," noted Yevgeny Shevchuk.
