Tiraspol, 20 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. One of major tasks the government and other bodies of state power are facing is to ensure optimal conditions for exporting Pridnestrovian goods to the Russian Federation, President Shevchuk said at today's press conference.
According to him, the PMR cannot determine export capabilities on its own as there are differences on this issue with the neighbouring Ukraine. «This makes it difficult to directly export our goods to the Russian Federation," underscored Yevgeny Shevchuk.
He recalled that many interagency agreements were signed within the framework of the Rogozin-Shevchuk protocol which are implemented today and which should contain concrete substance.
At the same time, the problems Pridnestrovian agents face when conducting foreign economic activities are in the focus of attention of their Russian colleagues.
«These issues are constantly discussed. Besides cooperation issues, there are also transit issues and problems with the current economic situation. And the situation is such that the demand for our goods is falling… We have to establish ourselves on various markets anyway. The Russian market is strategically important for us," emphasised the president.
In the meantime, Yevgeny Shevchuk noted, efforts by Pridnestrovian economic agents and government are not enough to overcome the existing obstacles and barriers imposed by official Kiev and Kishinev.
«It should be understood that our state cannot realise our sovereign right, as opposed to other states, to issue international documents for conducting foreign trade. This is due to political factors, but that this year the Pridnestrovian government has applied certain motivating financial instruments to ensure export to Russia is a noticeable step forward," said the president.
He added that interparliamentary work is also expected to yield concrete results. «We expect that consultations at this level will result in additional formulas of expanding trading relations with Russia," concluded the president.
