Bendery, 21 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In the course of today's session JCC considered a violation of the PMR's airspace by Romanian aircraft.
A statement released by the Pridnestrovian delegation underscores that the recent incident is far from being the only one. Earlier this month, on 4 April, a violation of the PMR's airspace made by other country's aircraft with the purpose of «aerial mapping the territory to obtain orthophotographic charts and a digital model of the terrain relief in the Security Zone» was registered.
«The issue of provocations in Pridnestrovie's airspace, including in the Security Zone, has been raised many times at the JCC's meetings, as well as during meetings of co-chairs with the participation of representatives of Ukraine, the OSCE and the JCC. However, a vicious and dangerous practice of unapproved flights by aircraft belonging, as revealed, to a foreign state not engaged in the process of settlement over the Security Zone continues in the most provoking and irresponsible way," declare Pridnestrovie's official representatives to the JCC.
In this connection, the delegation has requested the Russian side to resume the flights of helicopter squadron within the framework of the peacekeeping operation.
«The Pridnestrovian delegation expresses justified concerns about the situation. We find it necessary to remind that the 1992 Agreement provides for a helicopter squadron whose activities were suspended by the Russian side without a corresponding decision by the JCC. According to the JCC's Protocol No. 1 of 28 July 1992, the squadron comprises four Mi-8 helicopters and four Mi-24 helicopters whose flight performance allows them to suppress any air provocations and secure the established security procedures in the Security Zone without using standard weapon," underscores the statement.
This issue, as Novosti Pridnestrovya has reported, will be discussed at an emergency session of the JCC.
