Vitaly Ignatyev: The main aim is independence of Pridnestrovie and strategic development of relations with Russia

Tiraspol, April 18. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The situation around Pridnestrovie remains difficult, and there are no crucial conditions to change it. It was declared by the head of the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Ministry Vitaly Ignatyev in conversation with the editor-in-chief of the Russian House magazine Alexander Krutov. At the same time, the diplomat noted that Ukraine, according to the so-called pro-European rhetoric, stroke a chord with Moldova inflicting damage on the PMR from two sides.

«We offered a positive development concept of our strategic vector approved through the referendum. We could form a concept of the Pridnestrovian Euroasian region in this regional space, but we have to work on it. I believe that the concept of «the besieged fortress» is a negative concept and it has not so much resources. We have to develop the Eurasian integration, we have to meet expectations of the population," Ignatyev declared and added that the main aim of Pridnestrovie is independence and strategic development of relations with Russia.

Commenting on the attacks against the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Affairs Ministry by some parliamentarians, the head of the ministry noted that they had to be regarded in the context of election campaign.

«All those aims and tasks which we set before us are based on our people's will materialized in the referendum, in the concept of foreign policy. There are two main priorities: Eurasian integration and settlement of the Moldo-Pridnestrovian relations on the principles of parity and neighbourliness. We say truly that settlement should be based on the people's will and the referendum principle should be given a top priority. I am afraid that critics due to pre-election context practice some of their mechanisms and at the same time they just want to push or to push off us somewhere," the Pridnestrovie's Acting Foreign Minister told.

«We've never had it, there has always been a consensus on the issues concerning the foreign policy, and I am sure that at the societal level there are complete support and approbation of the actions taken by the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Ministry of PMR," Ignatyev added.
