Tiraspol, 16 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Within a continuing visit to Moscow, the Pridnestrovie's Acting Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatyev met with the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs Alexey Pushkov, the Pridnestrovie's MFA Press Service reports.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current international and regional factors adversely affecting the situation in Pridnestrovie. In this context, Vitaly Ignatyev specified a wide range of challenges and threats faced by the PMR at the present stage, including the refusal of the Moldovan representatives from a comprehensive dialogue with Pridnestrovie against the declared readiness for substantive work and also the repeated attempts to undermine the basic principles of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester.
Special attention was paid to the politically motivated decision of Moldova and Ukraine to establish joint customs border control at the Kuchurgan checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Pridnestrovian border. The Pridnestrovie's Foreign Minister emphasized the existence of a wide scope of repercussions which may be caused by this confrontational scenario.
During the dialogue, the sides exchanged their opinions on the issues concerning the initiation of the politically motivated criminal proceedings by the Moldovan Public Prosecution Office against the citizens of Pridnestrovie. Vitaly Ignatyev presented the Russian parliamentarian with the Pridnestrovie's MFA edition «Instruments to put pressure on Pridnestrovie on Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement: politically motivated criminal prosecution of Pridnestrovian citizens by Moldova».
The sides also discussed a number of specific directions of Russian-Pridnestrovian cooperation in which the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs could provide support.
At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed to promote bilateral contacts.
