Tiraspol, 16 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Yesterday, the Price and Antimonopoly Committee held a meeting at the request of the Association of Pharmacists on the possible revaluation of the medical and pharmaceutical products whose prices are subject to government regulation in the event the official exchange value of the Pridnestrovian rouble changes against foreign currencies.
At the beginning of the meeting the head of the committee, Vitaly Ulitka, explained the current legislation on government regulation of import goods prices in case the rouble's official rate changes against foreign currencies.
He also informed meeting participants about an assigned task to work out mechanisms aimed at minimising negative impact on the consumer market with regard to changes in the domestic currency market, including the maintenance of the amount of socially significant products and affordable prices for these products.
The chairman of the Association of Pharmacists, Valeryan Tulgara, pointed out a number of problems in the medical and pharmaceutical sphere in connection with the situation in the country's currency market. Among these problems are the state's capability to meet the demand of pharmaceutical goods importers for foreign currency, the inclusion of currency costs in the acquisition price and the revaluation of the surplus of medical and pharmaceutical products.
A representative of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank explained that solving the above problems is possible only after the Supreme Council passes amendments to the guidelines of the 2016 monetary policy, extending the currency corridor.
As a result of the meeting, it was decided that before the extension of the currency corridor was considered, the committee's experts would study the experience of CIS countries in accounting foreign currency risks when fixing prices for import pharmaceutical products and draft possible solutions with due consideration to the opinion of the ministries and organisations concerned.
