'Sheriff does not care about people's problems' is the title of an article published by the Novorossiya agency. The article covers Pridnestrovie's election campaign. The author argues that many candidates for Supreme Council deputy bribe voters during their election campaign. In particular, this refers to the Tirotex CEO, Andrey Mezhinsky, whose «brother, Moldova's ex-minister of interior, works as a manager for Vladimir Plahotniuc.»
«The main thing is that many candidates already work for Moldova's security agency (SIB). Candidate at election district No. 42 Andrey Mezhinsky, head of JSC Tirotex (textile factory), which is the biggest enterprise in the Sheriff group of companies, is a brother of Velentin Mezhinsky, Moldova's ex-minister of interior, who works now as a manager for Vladimir Plahotniuc. Over a short period of time, the candidate has bribed voters at his district at an amount of $70.000 — 80.000," writes Artyom Tarasov.
The journalist notes that «the same occurs at other districts. Western funds and mass media are generous with means to force Russia out of Pridnestrovie.»
It should be recalled the Pridnestrovie's Investigation Committee (IC) has started criminal proceedings over bribing an election commission member. According to the IC, «on 10 February 2015, in Slobodzeya, while meeting member of Pridnestorvie's central election commission V.T. Vornik, the Tirotex CEO, Andrey Mezhinsky, asked her to vote for the 'necessary' person during the election of the CEC chairperson. Andrey Mezhinsky proposed a reward of $5,000 for the 'correct' vote. This proposal aimed at electing Supreme Council representative E.A. Gorodetskaya as chairwoman of the CEC.»
