Tiraspol, March, 29. / Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky commented on the participation of the head of the Official Representation of Pridnestrovie in the Russian Federation Leonid Manakov in the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. According to him, the invitation arrived from the United Nations.
The Head of the state focused attention that Leonid Manakov's visit is a consequence of the request of September, 2017 to the UN Secretary-General to consider a question of giving of the special status to Pridnestrovie.
«There is such an international form. There is an example – Palestine. Palestine and Pridnestrovie, in my opinion, are incomparable. We are far ahead in terms of the development of democracy, institutes of the power and economy. Nevertheless, Palestine has this status, and we do not. Therefore we, leaning on this example, also appealed to the UN about giving of the special status to Pridnestrovie», - the President told.
He noted that in other address representatives of the PMR asked the Secretary-General to provide in the UN the platform for Pridnestrovie to share the information on the republic, the taking place events including in the sphere of human rights.
«We were heard. I can disclose some details. The question of Pridnestrovie was among others forming the UN agenda 2018. The dialogue was started», - the Head of the state emphasized.
Vadim Krasnoselsky reminded that UN officials constantly visit the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Repeatedly the UN Human Rights Senior Expert Thomas Hammarberg was in Pridnestrovie.
«He (Thomas Hammarberg) draws conclusions about the quality of respect for human rights, ethnic minorities, physically disabled people in Pridnestrovie. And, as you know, the reviews are positive. The expert says that Pridnestrovie moved ahead and that we can be an example for our neighbours. His assessment deserves attention and respect, and we accept it», - the President noted.
«In the development of our relations, Leonid Manakov was also invited to Geneva to the 40th session of the UN Human Rights Council and made the report on how human rights are observed in Pridnestrovie – in difficult living conditions of our state. At the end of a report he drew a conclusion that to observe the rights of representatives of all nationalities living in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and other categories of citizens it is possible only in the condition of maintaining the Pridnestrovian statehood», - the Head of the state concluded.
