Tiraspol, 29 November. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Within the framework of the working visit to Moscow, the foreign minister of the PMR, Vitaly Ignatyev, met the chairman of Russia's State Duma committee for CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, Leonid Kalashnikov, the MFA's press service reports.
They discussed a wide range of topical issues of bilateral interaction of Pridnestrovie and Russia in various fields. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of Pridnestrovie's strategic course for Eurasian integration. In particular, Vitaly Ignatyev and Leonid Kalashnikov exchanged views on possible joint actions to boost the inclusion of Pridnestrovie in Eurasian integration processes. Leonid Kalshnikov praised the participation of independent observers from Pridnestrovie in the 14th session of the intergovernmental commission between Russia and Moldova.
The Pridnestrovian minister informed the Russian MP on the current situation in the negotiations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. The diplomat focused on the need for an early resolution of a number of pressing problems at the negotiating table, particularly in the area of politically motivated prosecution of Pridnestovian citizens by Moldova, as well as in the sphere of road and rail transport. According to Vitaly Ignatyev, the importance of addressing these issues had been confirmed by international participants of the negotiating process, but substantive work in this area was greatly hampered by Moldova's reluctance to reach agreement.
Ignatyev and Kalashnikov also agreed on the crucial strategic importance of the peacekeeping operation led by Russia in Pridnestrovie and stressed the inadmissibility of any actions aimed at disrupting the current peacekeeping format.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop contacts over the full spectrum of topical issues of mutual interest.
