“The Russian Federation Participation in the peacekeeping operation in Pridnestrovie. 30 years of peace and stability in the region” round table was held at the site of the Federation Council in Moscow. The organizers are the committees of the Federation Council on international affairs and on defense and security. The event is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on the Principles of Peaceful Settlement of the Conflict in Pridnestrovie, among the basic provisions of which is the participation of Russian military personnel in ensuring peace and security on the Dniester. The format of the discussion is combined. Speakers spoke both directly in the meeting room and remotely. Members of the Federation Council, deputies of the State Duma, public figures, Russian experts participated. The Pridnestrovian side was represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vitaly Ignatiev and the Head of the Official Representation of Pridnestrovie in Russia Leonid Manakov. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, as well as Head of the PMR CEC Elena Gorodetskaya, Vice Speaker of the Pridnestrovian Parliament Galina Antyufeeva, legislator Grigory Dyachenko and others joined the conversation via video link.

Vadim Krasnoselsky on behalf of Pridnestrovie welcomed the participants of the event. He emphasized that it is necessary to discuss both historical aspects and today's realities for a correct understanding of the situation and the role of peacekeeping. He recalled the tragic events that preceded the entry of Russian peacekeepers into the territory of Pridnestrovie, spoke about the effectiveness of the model that has been operating for 30 years, recalled the decisions taken by the Republic of Moldova that contradict the agreements reached earlier, the signed agreement and common sense. The PMR President did not disregard the fact that the Russian peacekeeper has been on the Pridnestrovian land not for three decades, but for more than two centuries – since 1792. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed gratitude to the leadership and people of Russia for ensuring peace in the republic, emphasizing that the Pridnestrovians are confident in the need to maintain the existing format of peacekeeping in Pridnestrovie.

The interlocutors agreed to formalize the conclusions into a final resolution after an almost two-hour exchange of views on the topics of the round table. A proposal was made to publish a collection of presentations by the participants in the discussion.

Taking the opportunity, the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky drew the attention of the participants of the event to the problem of the inefficient functioning of the consular service point, which is relevant for hundreds of thousands of Pridnestrovian Russians and compatriots. Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexei Polishchuk assured in this regard that the consular department of the Russian Foreign Ministry is doing everything possible to resolve the issue. According to him, 9 Russian passports are issued in Tiraspol every hour at the moment. A special commission was created to assess the situation and take measures to improve the quality of the work of the institution, which has already visited the site. A decision was made to increase the staff of the Tiraspol consular service point. Specialists will soon begin work, said Alexey Polishchuk.

Representatives of the Federation Council emphasized that they keep the issue under control.
