Tiraspol, January 24. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Expert groups of Pridnestrovie and Moldova on health issues today discussed the problems of importing medicines into the PMR, as well as importing X-ray equipment necessary for the timely diagnosis of diseases. Including tuberculosis.
The meeting took place in a video conference format at the initiative of the Pridnestrovian side, the PMR Foreign Ministry reports.
As noted at the meeting of expert groups, the Moldovan side has again reduced the list of medicines that can be imported to Pridnestrovie. Because of this, serious risks arise for the population and PMR healthcare system.
As a result of today’s discussion, the parties agreed to conduct an additional analysis of the needs of Pridnestrovian medical institutions and pharmacies in order to prevent a shortage of drugs.
As for the import of X-ray equipment, here Pridnestrovian specialists proposed a mechanism tested in the summer of 2023, within the framework of which parts for a computed tomograph were supplied to the Republican Hospital for Disabled Persons of the Great Patriotic War.
However, the Moldovan side did not show readiness to find a compromise despite the arguments of not only Pridnestrovie, but also the representative of the World Health Organization. As before, the Republic of Moldova puts forward political demands for Pridnestrovian medical institutions.
Blocking the import of X-ray equipment may lead to an increase in threats associated with late detection of tuberculosis.
