Tiraspol, December 6. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic has been developing for more than 30 years in conditions of international unrecognition and economic pressure from Moldova. At the same time, the PMR has every reason to recognize its political independence, the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized during an open history lesson with schoolchildren and students.
“I believe that the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic will be recognized by the world community. I assure you, we have every legal basis for this. Not a single state that has received its recognition can hold a candle to Pridnestrovie in terms of the number of reasons we have today,” Vadim Krasnoselsky said.
A retrospective of the historical path of Pridnestrovie, which was held by the head of the republic, allows us to identify key points. On the territory of Pridnestrovie, a people was formed as a result of a mixture of different cultures and traditions. Today, representatives of 70 nationalities live in a small state in the Dniester valley. Xenophobia and ethno-confessional hostility are completely absent, while folk traditions are intertwined in such a way that a unique ethno-cultural phenomenon has emerged - the Pridnestrovian people.
Statehood in Pridnestrovie arose much earlier than 1990. The First Republic (MASSR) existed in 1924-40, when the current territory of Moldova was under Romanian occupation (annexation of the Bessarabia province by Romania in 1918). The territorial claims of the Republic of Moldova to Pridnestrovie have no basis: historically, the Pridnestrovian territories were not part of the Moldovan state. Moreover, Bessarabia was annexed to the first republic of Pridnestrovie in 1940, as a result of which the new union republic of the MSSR was created. At the same time, already in 1990, Chisinau recognized the illegal creation of the MSSR and thereby split the union republic into two parts. This became the basis for self-determination of Pridnestrovians, who, in referendums in 1989-90, spoke in favor (97%) of re-establishing the republic in Pridnestrovie.
Over 30 years, the PMR has managed to build a state, economic and social system, withstand numerous political challenges and maintain development potential. The Pridnestrovian state has a historical foundation, the support of the people and the concept of the future, expressed in the Development Strategy of the PMR (political stability, economic self-sufficiency, social justice), Vadim Krasnoselsky noted at an open history lesson.
