Moscow, February 20. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Alexander Brod, a member of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights of the Russian Federation, called for strengthening the mechanisms of political and economic influence on Moldova to ease pressure on Pridnestrovie, RIA Novosti reported, citing the press service of the HRC.
Earlier, the ex-Minister of Internal Affairs of Moldova, Dorin Recean, while being in the status of a candidate for prime minister, said that he intended to seek the "demilitarization of Pridnestrovie " and the withdrawal of the Russian military from the territory of the PMR. In response, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov advised the Moldovan authorities to be more careful with their words about the presence of Russian peacekeepers in the region.
"Judging by today's commentary by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, the head of the state understands the urgent problems of the region, Russia's peacekeeping mission in the PMR will continue. I believe that our state should strengthen the mechanisms of political and economic influence on Moldova to ease pressure on Pridnestrovie and resume working contacts of Tiraspol and Chisinau, which will help to avoid a military scenario," Brod said in a statement published on the HRC website.
According to the human rights activist, the new Moldovan government intends to pursue an even more radical anti-Russian policy and increase pressure on Pridnestrovie.
"The new Prime Minister in his speech demonstrated the very aggressive intentions of Moldova. This attitude is constantly encouraged by the West, in recent years there has been a significant pumping of the military budget of Moldova. Political and economic pressure on Pridnestrovie, where about two hundred thousand citizens with Russian passports live, has increased, " - Brod emphasized.
In addition, the human rights activist noted that Moldova restricts the supply of food, medicines, and other vital goods to the PMR, which significantly reduces the living standards of Pridnestrovians.
"The new amendments to the Moldovan Criminal Code will make it possible to detain unwanted residents of the PMR, to initiate criminal cases for 'separatism'," Brod said.
