Maria Zakharova: It is unlikely that the new government will change Moldova's course toward Russia

According to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the West continues to lead the Republic of Moldova on the way to the Baltic countries.

It is unlikely that Chisinau's course towards Russia after the approval of the government of Dorin Recean will change. The changes in the composition of the Moldovan Cabinet of Ministers are rather cosmetic.
This opinion was expressed by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova, answering the question of the media about the new government of the Republic of Moldova. Journalists drew attention to the fact that the appointed Prime Minister Dorin Recean has already announced Russia's "hybrid attacks" on Moldova, the "inefficiency of the CIS" and the need for curtailment of the Russian military presence in Pridnestrovie. However, he said nothing about the dialogue with Russia.
“We followed the formation of the new government of the Republic of Moldova carefully. This process was accompanied by an unprecedented intensification of anti-Russian rhetoric by the official Chisinau based on unsupported information about a certain plan of Russia to destabilize the situation in the country. We are convinced that none of the sensible people in Moldova believed another fake,” Maria Zakharova said.
According to her, the Western curators of the current leadership of the Republic of Moldova continue to lead the country, in particular, on the way to the Baltic countries.
“The same patterns are used: a ban of undesired media, persecution of political opponents, limiting of the use of the Russian language, attempts to falsify our common history, artificial restricting of political, trade, economic and humanitarian contacts with Russia, moving away from a neutral status, which is a guarantee of sovereignty, stability and the security of the republic,” the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia explained.
She stressed that such a course of the Moldovan authorities "does not meet the interests of our peoples."
At the same time, Russia was and remains open “to the development of constructive and pragmatic bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the citizens of Russia and Moldova,” Maria Zakharova added.
Recall that the new composition of the government of the Republic of Moldova was approved on February 16. In addition to Dorin Recean, three new ministers appeared in it. The remaining eleven members of the former cabinet (including Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian - political representative of the Republic of Moldova in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian negotiations) retained their posts.
