Tiraspol, June 6. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Moldovan authorities` refusal to cooperate with the PMR law enforcement agencies proves official Chisinau`s disregard for the inhabitants of Pridnestrovie and encourages the commission of crimes.
This is the conclusion reached by the Independent Human Rights Center Pridnestrovian Meridian in their statement on the situation with the investigation into the arson of the Military Commissariat in Tiraspol. Recall that the investigation concluded that the special services of the Republic of Moldova were involved in the commission of this crime. However, the General Prosecutor's Office of Moldova did not respond to the proposal to jointly investigate this crime.

Statement on the obstruction of justice by the Republic of Moldova
The Independent Human Rights Center Pridnestrovian Meridian draws attention to the ongoing practice by the Republic of Moldova of a politicized approach to the consideration of sectoral issues related, among other things, to the physical security of the inhabitants of Pridnestrovie.
In particular, we are talking about the fact that the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Moldova did not respond to the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on a joint investigation into the arson of the Tiraspol administrative building situation.
Recall that on May 13, 2022, the building of the PMR Military Commissariat was set on fire with Molotov cocktails. Based on the results of the investigative measures, it was established that the crime was committed by Moldovan citizens` organized group. One of them was charged under part 2 of article 277 of the PMR Criminal Code, while remand in custody as a measure of restraint was applied to him.
During the investigation, information was also obtained, giving grounds to suspect that the special services of the Republic of Moldova were also involved in the organization of this terrorist act. In this context, the PMR Prosecutor's Office addressed the Prosecutor General of Moldova with a proposal to arrange working interaction and coordinate joint actions to discover the truth and all the circumstances related to the organization, preparation, and commission of the crime, as well as to identify all persons involved.
We believe that Chisinau's refusal to cooperate in such a significant and high-profile case is a deliberate defiant move that clearly illustrates the Republic of Moldova`s disregard for Pridnestrovie and its inhabitants.
This position is not new. Moldova has been refusing practical systemic interaction with Pridnestrovie through law enforcement agencies for several years. Considering that crime knows no boundaries, it is difficult to overestimate the demand for the exchange of information between the competent authorities. Moreover, the relevance of such cooperation is confirmed by Moldovan law enforcement and justice agencies` requests for internal information, regularly received by the relevant departments of the PMR.
The exchange of operational information, unfortunately, is unilateral. The approach applied by Chisinau provokes crime, as it sends everyone who violates the law an unambiguous message: having left Pridnestrovie, you can go unpunished. We believe that this practice of inaction is connivance, obstruction of justice, and a deliberate reduction of the physical security of the Pridnestrovian population.
By excluding Pridnestrovie from the space for the exchange of operational information, Moldova violates part 2 of article 2 and article 7 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which say that, firstly, no distinction should be made based on the political, legal, or international status of territory to which a person belongs, and secondly, all human beings are considered equal before the law and are entitled, without any distinction, to the equal protection of the law.
In the context of the difficult social and humanitarian situation in the region and the increased sensitivity of security issues, the Human Rights Center Pridnestrovian Meridian calls on the Republic of Moldova to reconsider its position on the designated issue from the point of view of a human rights approach and make decisions based on the logic and interests of people (including Moldovan citizens) and not on the political agenda.
