Tiraspol, April 27/ Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovie doesn’t threaten to Ukraine. This was stated by the PMR Foreign Affairs Minister Vitaly Ignatiev in an interview with the Interfax Russian news agency. He reminded that Russia has historically fulfilled its role as a peacekeeper in this geographical area.

“This’s the state that provides peace for 30 years between Moldova and Pridnestrovie and created all grounds for a political peaceful dialogue. We’ve been conducting it for three decades now. Therefore, Russia, undoubtedly, has the confidence of the Pridnestrovian population and I think the Moldovan population too. Therefore, of course, we have great expectations for peace and security with the Russian Federation,” the head of the foreign ministry explained.

Today, the situation around Pridnestrovie is aggravated. Under these conditions, everything should be done to prevent the already critical situation from worsening.

According to Vitaly Ignatiev, in modern conditions, probably, we cannot exclude anything, but, undoubtedly, every necessary effort should be made to prevent escalation. Of course, it’s necessary to elaborate on different forecasts and scenarios and be prepared for any situation. For our part, we’re doing everything to provide peace and security. We don’t threaten to Ukraine, and the Pridnestrovian leadership has repeatedly officially stated that there are no plans or preparatory actions against Ukraine.
