Tiraspol, April 26. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Easter holidays turned out to be overshadowed by a whole series of high-profile crimes in Pridnestrovie. At 5:45 pm on April 25, unknown assailants fired shots with rocket-propelled grenades at the building of the Ministry of State Security in Tiraspol. Windows in the building and neighboring houses were shattered.
At about 11:30 pm on the same day, two explosive devices were detonated on the territory of one of the military units, presumably dropped from a drone onto the territory of the airbase of the military unit in Tiraspol. Upon their detonation, the ZIL-131 car was damaged.
Finally, early in the morning on April 26, in the village of Mayak, Grigoriopol District, two antennas of the Pridnestrovian radio and television center were blown up by unknown persons.
Following the results of the meeting of the Security Council that took place in the morning, the PMR President declared the red terrorist alert on the territory of the republic for 15 days. It provides, in particular, the transfer of PMR power structures to an enhanced version of service, strengthening the protection of the state border and executive authorities, patrolling public places, setting up roadblocks at the entrances and exits from the cities of Pridnestrovie. At these roadblocks, selective control of passing vehicles will be carried out during the day, while total control of passing vehicles will be carried out at night. Public events are limited.
At a meeting with the heads of state administrations of cities and regions, it was decided to transfer all city educational institutions to distance learning until the end of the academic year. The President of the PMR said in his telegram channel that due to the difficult situation in which the education sector of the republic found itself, that year both the Unified State Exam and annual exams in intermediate classes would be canceled in schools. Adjustments are being made to the program for celebrating Victory Day.
In his address to the citizens of Pridnestrovie, the President of the PMR said that the initial investigative actions carried out showed that traces of the attacks lead to Ukraine. The head of state stressed that from the very beginning of the conflict on the territory of the neighboring state, Pridnestrovie has maintained neutrality, accepts refugees, and provides them with all the necessary state support.
“I assume that those who organized this attack have the goal of dragging Pridnestrovie into the conflict. And I can say with certainty that it will not work. Pridnestrovie will be able to defend itself. We will find everyone who is an accomplice in these criminal acts. But they will not drag us into the conflict,” Vadim Krasnoselsky said.
The PMR President called on the authorities of Ukraine to investigate the facts of certain militant groups` illegal movement and the commission of terrorist acts by them on the territory of Pridnestrovie, and the leadership of Moldova not to succumb to provocations and not allow their country to be drawn into aggression against Pridnestrovie.
“We still need to remember our peaceful formats: both 1 + 1 and 5 + 2, and the work of the relevant groups in the development of the 5 + 2 format, we need to resolve aspects of our two states` lives, to avoid any aggression that could become the prologue of a big war – no matter what happens. We must agree - agree on peace, first of all, and preserve this peace,” Vadim Krasnoselsky believes.
Addressing the citizens of Pridnestrovie, the President of the PMR urged them to understand the measures taken to combat the terrorist threat, not to panic, not to listen to any fake news, rumors, gossip, and insinuations.
“We will keep peace in Pridnestrovie. We will find and punish everyone guilty of these terrorist attacks,” Vadim Krasnoselsky stressed.
The President of the PMR assured that the state would assist the families living on the premises that suffered from the shock wave during the terrorist attack near the building of the Ministry of State Security of the PMR.
The Investigative Committee of the PMR instituted criminal proceedings on the facts of shelling the building of the Ministry of State Security of the PMR and explosions on the territory of the military unit.
In Russia, they are concerned about what happened in Pridnestrovie. Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said that Moscow hopes that the republic will not be dragged into the conflict between Russia and Ukraine so that Russia does not have to intervene in resolving the situation.
As for Moldova, its President Maia Sandu declared Chisinau's commitment to a peaceful settlement of the Pridnestrovian conflict, however, she connected the explosions with the struggle of certain powers within Pridnestrovie.
“Unlike Ms. Sandu, we know where the terrorists came from and in the direction of which state they left,” Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky posted in his telegram channel. “I assure you, they have nothing to do with the Pridnestrovian people.”
The PMR President stressed that the statements of officials, especially of the highest rank, should be based on verified facts and reliable information.
