PMR Foreign Minister: Negotiations must be continued to the advantage of Pridnestrovians

Vitaly Ignatiev told the Supreme Council deputies about the foreign policy situation around Pridnestrovie

Tiraspol, March 22. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovie will continue the negotiation process in different formats, including the 5 + 2 and 1 + 1 formats.

As the parliamentary press service reported, today, Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev was invited to a meeting of the Commission on Foreign Policy and International Relations of the Supreme Council of the PMR. The deputies discussed with the head of the MFA of the PMR the overall foreign policy situation around Pridnestrovie, as well as the possibilities of the republic to respond to the rapidly changing situation.

“I informed my colleagues about the situation in the negotiations. Unfortunately, it is moving very slowly. The Moldovan side refuses dialogue. Not a single problem that is an actual part of our working agenda has been resolved so far. But in any case, we are in contact with all participants in the negotiation process. We are doing everything to resolve urgent problems step by step. And soon, we will hold another meeting at the level of political representatives to move forward within the framework of the dialogue. While we do not see readiness for a serious dialogue on the Moldovan side, there is a certain, in our opinion, imitation tactics,” Vitaly Ignatiev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR said.

The problems of free movement, resumption of vehicle registration points` work, political criminal cases, personal security of citizens, blockade actions by the Republic of Moldova, delays in cargoes of Pridnestrovian economic agents, including fuels and lubricants, as well as medicines, remain unresolved. In the conditions of closed borders with Ukraine, their delivery through Moldova can also become a big problem.

“We had problems at the beginning of 2020 when Moldova blocked the supply of medicines that are not included in their register. Our registries do not match by 67%. It is unacceptable to leave the population of Pridnestrovie without medicines, including medicines produced in Russia, Belarus, and India. And we also buy Ukrainian medicines. Therefore, we do everything to prevent this problem. So far, we are not seeing any difficulties, but there are technical issues while they are being resolved. But in any case, we will look at the situation in dynamics,” the head of the PMR Foreign Ministry explained.

Vitaly Ignatiev noted that the topic of the supply of medicines to Pridnestrovie had been discussed at a meeting with the political representative of Moldova on February 28. The next meeting of political representatives in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement is scheduled for March 24, the Foreign Minister noted.

“Both the Supreme Council and the Foreign Ministry remained committed to a peaceful political settlement with Moldova and, of course, at the negotiating table. The Supreme Council discussed that we need to continue the negotiation process in all formats, including the 5 + 2 and 1 + 1 formats, to resolve issues that concern Pridnestrovians," the Vice Speaker of the Parliament, Chairman Commission for Foreign Policy and International Relations of the Supreme Council of the PMR Galina Antyufeeva stressed.

Negotiations must be continued so that all issues related to the protection of our citizens` rights and freedoms, further life, all economic processes, economic development, humanitarian projects are resolved based on signed agreements that must be implemented.
