Tiraspol, September 20. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A regular meeting of representatives on political issues from Pridnestrovie and Moldova, Vitaly Ignatiev and Vladislav Kulminsky, took place today in the Tiraspol office of the OSCE Mission. Expert (working) groups on the development of transport and road facilities also took part in the consultations.
Tiraspol and Chisinau continued to discuss the problems that have arisen since September 1 this year after Ukraine introduced a ban on entry for cars with Pridnestrovian license plates.
Today, the focus was on issues related to passenger and small-sized cargo transportation through the Ukrainian territory. The Pridnestrovian side has proposed a specific solution here - to allow commercial vehicles to the mechanism of obtaining neutral license plates at the vehicle registration points (VRP). Also, Vitaly Ignatiev again urged Vladislav Kulminsky to sign and send a joint appeal to Kiev with a request to suspend the ban for the period of the dialogue.
However, like last Thursday, the political representative from the Republic of Moldova rejected Pridnestrovian proposals. Yet, he did not offer alternative ways of resolving the crisis.
“There were no substantive arguments that would explain the impossibility of registering commercial vehicles in the VRP or sending a joint appeal to intermediaries from Ukraine,” the PMR Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
The issue was raised regarding driving licenses at the meeting again. The representatives of Pridnestrovie drew attention to the fact that the requirements of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova on the availability of a Moldovan driver's license when crossing the border of the Republic of Moldova are unfounded. This approach is fundamentally contrary to the provisions of the 2018 Protocol Decision on neutral license plates.
The problem of Pridnestrovian ambulances` registration in the VRP did not find a solution either.
As you know, the Ukrainian authorities have promised to let through their territory all Pridnestrovians returning home, primarily from Russia, until October 1. However, there are still cases when car owners with Pridnestrovian license plates cannot cross the Ukrainian border. On the initiative of Pridnestrovie, this question was also raised today.
It is assumed that the expert (working) groups will meet again this week.
