Appendix to the Decree of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic dated March 24, 2021 No. 204 "On the appeal about the emerging situation in the field of vaccination against the COVID-19 infection"
To His Excellency Mr. V. V. Putin,
the President of the Russian Federation
Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich!
We express our high esteem and sincere gratitude for the ongoing commitment of the Russian Federation to the people of Pridnestrovie, including in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
The visits of Rospotrebnadzor specialists, online consultations with Russian experts and the provision of coronavirus test systems as humanitarian aid have become invaluable support of Russia to Pridnestrovie in its efforts to counter the first and second waves of the disease.
At the same time, the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic caused a critical situation in the health care of the republic. Unfortunately, daily morbidity and mortality rates have increased significantly, coronavirus hospitals are 97 percent full, while the increase in cases is double the number of recovered patients.
In the conditions of the enormous pressure on the healthcare system of Pridnestrovie, our republic remains the only country on the European continent that has not begun the process of vaccination of the population. Meanwhile, the policy decision to allocate a batch of Sputnik V vaccine as humanitarian assistance was made by the Russian side back in December 2020. However, the delivery of the Russian vaccine by air has not yet been carried out due to artificial administrative and political barriers from the Republic of Moldova. Despite the fact that Sputnik V is registered with the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of the Republic of Moldova.
Residents of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, including more than 220 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation, are proud of Russia's global leadership in the creation and use of universally recognized effective vaccines against COVID-19.
Under these circumstances, hundreds of thousands of Russian citizens, as well as all Russian compatriots living in Pridnestrovie, are looking forward to the delivery of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to the republic as the only effective way to resist the pandemic and preserve people's lives and health.
Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, on behalf and on the instructions of our voters, we appeal to you with an earnest request to assist in saving the lives of Russian citizens and compatriots and to authorize the organization of a Russian-made vaccine prompt delivery to Pridnestrovie.
We express our deep gratitude to you and the entire Russian Federation in your person for the efforts to preserve peace and stability on the Dniester, assistance in the negotiation process, the provision of social and humanitarian assistance to the Pridnestrovian population made over three decades, and we hope that attention will be paid to our national request in the most difficult conditions of the global pandemic.
