Public organizations of the PMR made a statement due to the “law on separatism” adopted in Moldova

Statement of the Joint Council of Labor Collectives and other public organizations of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic due to the adoption of amendments to the Criminal Code of RM by the Parliament of Moldova on February 2, 2023
On February 2, 2023, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova adopted amendments to the Criminal Code, or, as they were also called, the "law on separatism". These changes made the entire population of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic criminals, as well as all those who disagree with the policy pursued by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova towards Pridnestrovie. The decision of the Moldovan authorities crosses out all the results of peace negotiations achieved over 30 years. The peoples of Pridnestrovie and Moldova again found themselves on the verge of an open conflict.
We want to open the eyes of Moldovan parliamentarians to some historical aspects. On October 12, 1924, the MASSR was formed, consisting of the territories of modern Pridnestrovie and modern Ukraine. During the 7th session of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the Law on the Formation of the Union Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic was adopted. The MSSR was created by joining part of Bessarabia to part of the MASSR. However, by the decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in 1991, all these above-mentioned decisions were declared invalid, that is, Bessarabia announced its withdrawal from the MSSR. Thus, the authorities in Chisinau, by their actions, actually abandoned Pridnestrovie themselves. Based on this, Pridnestrovie restored its statehood as a mechanism for protecting the Pridnestrovian people from the contrariness of the Moldovan authorities.
The initial reason for the disagreement of Pridnestrovians with the policy pursued by the nationalist political forces in Chisinau was the law on languages adopted by the Supreme Council of the MSSR. As a result, relations between Moldova and Pridnestrovie escalated. In 1992, the Moldovan authorities attempted to restore the so-called "constitutional order" by force, which led to numerous civilian casualties, the destruction of houses, and social and industrial infrastructure, and financial losses. Recall that Moldova has not yet given a fair legal assessment of this barbaric act. None of the participants in those events suffered a fair punishment and did not apologize to the Pridnestrovians. Moreover, last year was cynically declared in Moldova as the “Year of Gratitude to the Veterans of the Pridnestrovian Conflict”.
The end of armed aggression was put only thanks to the external intervention and the introduction of peacekeeping forces. For almost 30 years, a dialogue has been held between the parties to reach agreement on a peaceful resolution of the issue. We remain convinced that the settlement of relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova should take place exclusively at the negotiating table based on mutual respect and equality.
However, the amendments adopted on February 2, 2023 (“the law on separatism”) put an end to the dialogue, since they are directed, according to the officials of the Republic of Moldova, primarily against the authorities of Pridnestrovie.
Public organizations of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic expressing the will of the Pridnestrovian people declare that the clumsy attempts of the Moldovan authorities to separate the people of Pridnestrovie and their elected authorities, as well as to destroy the manufactures created by the hands of the working people of Pridnestrovie are not given the chance.
Public activists of Pridnestrovie note that any inclinations or actions directed against any citizen of the PMR will be considered by the people of Pridnestrovie as terrorist actions of a neighboring state, aimed at forcibly imposing their own will and an alien system of values on the people of Pridnestrovie.
The will of the people of Pridnestrovie was uniquely determined by the decision of the Referendum on September 17, 2006, and the Pridnestrovian state will consistently implement it.
We are committed to the course of peaceful development and peaceful coexistence with neighboring states chosen by the Pridnestrovians.
Adopted at a meeting of the Presidium of the RPM "JCLC (The Joint Council of Labor Collectives) of Pridnestrovie" on February 03, 2023
