PMR Foreign Minister: Chisinau is trying to limit Pridnestrovian contacts

Vitaly Ignatiev commented on the Moldovan authorities` calls to Russian diplomats not to attend events in Pridnestrovie

Tiraspol, February 17. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. All the Moldovan side`s calls regarding the visits of the Russian Ambassador to Pridnestrovie are politicized and contrary to the essence of diplomacy. Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev announced this on the air of the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel.

Let us recall that previous day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova (MFAEI) called on diplomats accredited in Moldova to refrain from attending events in Pridnestrovie. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov`s participation in the Collegium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR on February 10 provoked outrage among Moldovan authorities.

The political movement Unirea, which includes four political parties advocating unification with Romania, generally demanded that the Foreign Ministry declare the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Chisinau persona non grata.

Attempts to limit contacts of Pridnestrovie in foreign policy are not happening for the first time and not for the first year, PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev commented on these calls.

“Russia, along with other states and international organizations, is an active participant in the negotiation process, mediator, guarantor of peace and stability. Any attempts to create problems and to notify the Russian side are counterproductive. Diplomacy is associated with the fact that we interact directly in any form, on any platform and format. The range of our international contacts is very wide, and interaction with the Russian Ambassador is no exception,” he said.
