Moldovan delegation counterproductive position carrying threat to peacekeeping operation management

Moldova’s delegation continues to block Joint Control Commission work

Bendery, February 11. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Joint Control Commission work is continuously blocked by the RM delegation. According to the JCC Co-chairman from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov, the Moldovan delegation attitude toward peacekeeping processes remains unchanged from the previous meeting.

Because of the Moldovan delegation actions, it wasn’t possible to sign the report of the Joint Military Command (JMC) for the past week.

“The current documents prohibit the JMC not to execute documents. At all accounts they should be submitted to the JCC, with the object of the Security Zone situation appropriate assessment as well as giving appropriate instructions,” the head of the Pridnestrovian delegation noted.

It should be reminded, that more than 20 JCC reports have remained unsigned since March of last year.

According to Oleg Belyakov, the situation is becoming more complicated. The Pridnestrovian side was forced out for delivering an address that the Moldovan side was weakening the peacekeeping operation foundation as well as the JMC and the JCC working process.

“This is because of the fact, that we don’t really influence the situation in the Security Zone. The position isn’t constructive. When one side takes such a counterproductive position, it becomes dangerous for peacekeeping operation controlling. We are very concerned about it. It’s very bad, that the JCC is without responding to what the Moldovan side says and what provocations are being carried out in the Security Zone,” the Co-chairman noted.

For instance, one of these provocations was the incident with the TV8 Moldovan TV-channel journalists, who were taking video at one of the peacekeeping posts without accreditation letter.

Oleg Belyakov reminded that in the previous year journalists of TV8 acted upon the scenario in order to cover with shame the Joint Peacekeeping Forces military personnel.

“In accordance with all instructions, servicemen are obliged to stop and inspect every transportation vehicle. Filming in the peacekeeping posts and military installations operating zones is prohibited. In the event of non-compliance, military observers are responded to the scene. Violators are handed over to the law-enforcement authorities, what was done. The peacekeepers haven’t violated their privilege even a step,” the Pridnestrovian delegation head to the JCC stressed.
