Bendery, January 14. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. This year`s first meeting of the Joint Control Commission did not take place. Delegations were unable to adopt the agenda.

“In general, the discussion was not easy. The parties came with a certain number of questions, problems that they tried to include in the agenda of the meeting. Taking into account the fact that a number of issues raised by the Moldovan delegation did not find their logical progress, the agenda was not adopted,” Oleg Belyakov, Co-Chairman of the JCC from Pridnestrovie, said.

He recalled that the Moldovan delegation had been blocking a decision on the reports of the Joint Military Command for a long time. To date, 18 reports are still pending.

“This is a rather extensive work of a large team of peacekeeping forces. This information goes to the JCC and must be assessed by all delegations, and a decision must be made that the situation in the Security Zone is under peacekeeping forces` control. The Moldovan side is blocking this component today. We do not fully understand rationale behind this move. But the number of reports is still growing,” the Head of the Pridnestrovian delegation stated.

According to the Co-Chairman, the Moldovan side also continues to try to include in the agenda issues that are not related to the JCC work.

“The agenda includes issues that have nothing to do with the JCC, but relate to the negotiation process. It is inappropriate to initiate them in the institution that exclusively deals with peace in the Security Zone,” Oleg Belyakov emphasized.

The Pridnestrovian side suggested considering the issue concerning the plan of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces main activities for 2021. However, due to the fact that the agenda of the meeting was not adopted, this issue could not be considered.

At the same time, according to the military, there were no serious incidents in the Security Zone during the New Year holidays. The situation remains stable and controlled, Oleg Belyakov noted.

He also said that the situation with the coronavirus in the peacekeeping contingents has stabilized after the New Year outbreak.
