Tiraspol, May 22. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. At the initiative of the Pridnestrovian side and with the assistance of the OSCE Mission, there was held a video-conference of expert (working) groups on customs interaction with the participation of representatives of international partners.
Representatives of Pridnestrovie noted that the lack of full cooperation through the fault of Moldova primarily during the transit of vital goods to the PMR has become an additional problem that worsened the situation during the pandemic. Based on the results of the previous meeting of relevant specialists, the Pridnestrovian side proposed a draft Protocol decision on mutual transit of goods. However, Chisinau ignored the draft document presented. As noted in the Foreign Ministry, that confirmed the deliberate nature of restrictions on the import of goods into Pridnestrovie during the pandemic.
The Pridnestrovian side identified in detail constraints caused by Moldova in the customs sphere in the past two months. Particular emphasis was placed on unreasonable consideration of the categories of goods imported by Pridnestrovie to be dual-use products. This led to losses for the Pridnestrovian companies.
For example, earlier the Moldovan side repeatedly detained medical equipment, reagents for conducting tests for determining COVID-19, components for ventilators, medicines, equipment necessary for the operation of strategic enterprises - MGRES, Tiraspoltransgaz-Pridnestrovie, Tirotex-Energo, Interdnestrcom.
Special attention was paid to those cargoes that could not be imported into the PMR, including vehicles whose import was blocked by the Moldovan side contrary to the provisions of the Protocol Decision of April 24, 2018, as well as agricultural machinery and plant protection products, urgently needed by Pridnestrovie during crop failure period.
According to Pridnestrovian experts, the bureaucratic-restrictive import regime built over recent months increases the need to prevent damage to the economic well-being of Pridnestrovian citizens through the intention of the Republic of Moldova to organize "joint control" on the border between Pridnestrovie and Ukraine.
Representatives of the PMR drew special attention of the international participants to the use of pressure instruments by Moldova during the epidemic, and to the fact that it confirmed the suspicion that Chisinau would not abandon the methods of discrimination in ordinary circumstances, destroying the normal dialogue regime and creating tension in the relations between the parties. The Pridnestrovian side once again called on the Moldovan representatives for a responsible dialogue.
