Ukrainian investors intend to grow cherries and strawberries in Pridnestrovie

The project was approved by the Investment Council under the PMR Government

Tiraspol, December 23. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Investors from Ukraine intend to grow cherries and strawberries in Pridnestrovie. Today, a project worth 1 million euros was approved by the Investment Council under the Government of the PMR.

The director of the investment agency Andrey Betanov said that the farm would be located in Slobodzeya District. Investors plan to grow cherries (intensive-type varieties) and strawberries indoors under Italian technology on 40 hectare plot of land. Seedlings and equipment can be purchased as early as January next year.

The main sales market (90% of production) is the Russian Federation. The payback period of the project is six years. The director of the agency said that the annual revenue might be about 800 thousand dollars.

It is assumed that 10 people will be involved in the new production on an ongoing basis and up to 30 ones per season. There will be additional workers involved in the harvest season.

In the future, with the successful development of the business, investors plan to start processing and growing vegetables.

Andrey Betanov focused on the fact that the proposed project was a priority in accordance with the standards of investment legislation of the PMR, since it involves the creation of a new production.

The Investment Council includes members of the Government, representatives of the Bank of Pridnestrovie and deputies of the Supreme Council.
