Yevgeny Primakov: Russia does not abandon Pridnestrovie

Pridnestrovian parliamentarians met with a delegation of deputies, political scientists and experts from the Russian Federation

Tiraspol, November 10. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The meeting of the leadership and deputies of the Supreme Council of the PMR with Russian political scientists and experts took place in the House of Official Receptions. It was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov and the Head of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry Vitaliy Ignatiev.

The visit of the Russian delegation took place within the framework of Primakov Readings held in Russia and a number of other states, including Moldova and Pridnestrovie.

The meeting took place in the format of dialogue, during which Pridnestrovian parliamentarians told Russian guests about the foreign and domestic political situation in the republic.

As Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR Alexander Korshunov noted in an interview to journalists, Russian experts and political scientists were not informed about many problems Pridnestrovie faced today. In particular, it concerns the banking sphere and double customs control on Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian border. “Colleagues listened to us and made notes to discuss the received information at the expert level and to find options for solving these issues,” Alexander Korshunov said.

Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, member of the Duma Committee on International Affairs, Yevgeny Primakov in an interview to journalists noted that acute moments, which concern humanitarian aspects, the life of people and their interests, unfortunately, could be used in political struggle. “Also because of the severe political crisis in Chisinau,” said the official.

According to Yevgeny Primakov, Moldova national interests should be built on good relations with Tiraspol. “It will be great if the neighboring state understands that blocking the accounts of the Pridnestrovian side, creating problems for the Pridnestrovian side is not in the interests of Chisinau,” said the Russian parliamentarian.

The meeting traditionally raised issues of obtaining the citizenship of the Russian Federation and maternal capital. Yevgeny Primakov, who ran in the Balashovsky district (Saratov region), to which Tiraspol was also assigned, stated that the granting of Russian citizenship was the most important issue addressed to him by Pridnestrovians. “The issue is complicated. I am a supporter of the fact that Russian-speaking has to have a possibility of obtaining Russian citizenship. Discussions about this in the State Duma continue, «- said the Russian parliamentarian.

Speaking about the obtaining of the maternal capital, Yevgeny Primakov stressed that there could be no separate point solution in this issue. “It is necessary to change the legislation, in which maternal capital will be provided to citizens living outside the Russian Federation. It is much more difficult to convince the Ministry of Finance that the decision is justified. Although in terms of fairness, this must be done. It is necessary to work more subtly on this moment in the legislation so that it concerns exactly those Russian citizens who really need it,” Yevgeny Primakov said. Issues of citizenship and maternal capital are constantly raised and discussed on the platform of inter-parliamentary communication, the deputy of the State Duma noted. “It's important for us to know and understand how we can help. Russia does not abandon Pridnestrovie”  the Russian politician stressed.
