In 2019, the volume of industrial production may amount to 13.3 billion rubles

This is 5% lower than the previous year indices

Tiraspol, October 22. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The website of the Ministry of Economic Development of the PMR has published information from the State Statistics Service on industrial production indicators for the first 9 months of 2019. Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the PMR Maria Glushkova told Novosti Pridnestrovya how the situation was in the real sector of the economy and forecast estimates.

According to the State Statistics Service, the volume of industrial production in September of this year was 15% higher than in September 2018. According to the results of 9 months, industrial production amounted to 9.3 billion rubles. This is approximately 5.3% less than the same period past year.

Maria Glushkova explained that this year Pridnestrovian enterprises had to work in rather difficult foreign economic conditions. The performance indicators were also negatively affected, including the blocking of the accounts of certain Pridnestrovian enterprises with banks of the Republic of Moldova this summer, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development stated.

The increase in production volumes at MMP in the third quarter in relation to the second one amounted to 23%, and to the first - 52.5%. However, in the nine months of this year, the company produced products 30% less than in the same period of 2018.

A decrease in production volumes (-5.3%) is also observed in light industry. The reason for the negative trend is high competition, including with Asian textile manufacturers, Maria Glushkova noted.

However, as in the ferrous metallurgy, the situation in this industry improved markedly by the third quarter. In September, there was noted an increase of 8.6% in commodity output. Coat production increased 2.5 times, upper shirts - 2 times, trousers - one and a half.

With the exception of ferrous metallurgy and light industry, over the first nine months, growth was noted in almost all other sectors of the Pridnestrovian economy, the Deputy Minister noted. A significant increase (21%) was recorderd in engineering. A 10 percent increase in production was recorded in the electrical industry. Positive dynamics was determined by an increase in the production of low-power electric motors (2.2 times), lighting wires and cords (+ 26.0%), and power cables (1.5 times).

In the food industry, the increase in volumes was 4%. Last month, the industry released products by almost a third more than in September 2018. “It's heartening to see that, because the activities of such enterprises are also oriented to the domestic market,” Maria Glushkova said. So, there was produced fresh and chilled meat more by 38.5%, pasta - by 17.4%, dairy products - by 11%.

The performance of the Rybnitsa cement plant remains at last year's level, which allows us to create a positive trend in the building materials industry, the representative of the Ministry of Economic Development noted.

Maria Glushkova considered the immediate activation of a whole range of industrial sectors to be a good trend. “We have a mono-structured economy with a high dependence on the activities of one or two large enterprises. Today, this dependence has been reduced. If last year, 36% accounted for other sectors in the overall structure of industrial production, but this is already 40%,” the Deputy Minister said.

According to forecasts of the Ministry of Economic Development, the volume of industrial production, including small and medium-sized businesses, may reach 13.3 billion rubles by the end of this year. This figure is 5% less than last year, Maria Glushkova summed up.
