UN Joint Human Rights Program will be implemented in Pridnestrovie

The projects to be implemented as part of the program were discussed at the PMR Foreign Affairs Ministry with UN agencies delegations and the Sweden Embassy

 

Tiraspol, September, 25. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry held a meeting PMR Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister, Alexander Stetsyuk, with UN agencies delegations and the Sweden Kingdom Embassy in Moldova.

According to Alexander Stetsyuk, the cooperation development with the UN is one of the Pridnestrovie foreign policy priorities. According to him, the United Nations agencies activities in the republic are practical and concentrated in the most sensitive social and humanitarian spheres, the Foreign Ministry press service said.

The guests presented the new UN Joint Human Rights Program, within the framework of which it is planned to implement projects in such areas as protecting the people rights with disabilities, combating the HIV / AIDS pandemic and tuberculosis, domestic violence and others.

The program is designed for 2019-2022 and will be implemented by UN agencies with the financial the Sweden Government support in close cooperation with Pridnestrovie relevant ministries and departments as part of the recommendation of the senior UN human rights expert Thomas Hammarberg.

“The presented work plan is based on the existing positive experience of cooperation with the UN and takes into account the needs and recommendations of the Pridnestrovian side,” the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.

It should be noted that the meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden Anna Lieberg, UN Resident Coordinator, representative of the UN Development Program Dima Al-Khatib, as well as representatives of the UN Children's Fund, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, The Joint United Nations Program on HIV / AIDS and the International Organization for Migration.

The Pridnestrovian side was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Health of the PMR Alexei Tsurcan, Minister of Internal Affairs of the PMR Ruslan Mova, First Deputy Minister of Justice - PMR Justice Ministry Head of the State Penitentiary Service Vitaly Ishchenko and PMR Social Protection and Labor Ministry epresentative Viktor Kushnirov.
