POLITICAL REPRESENTATIVES OF PRIDNESTROVIE AND MOLDOVA MET IN CHISINAU

The parties discussed problematic issues relating to telecommunications, politically motivated criminal cases, Pridnestrovian transport vehicles involvement in international road traffic and other topics of the negotiation process

Tiraspol, July, 24. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The PMR MFA press service reports that the office of the OSCE Mission in Chisinau has hosted first in this year meeting of political representatives from Pridnestrovie and Moldova, Vitaly Ignatiev and Vasily Shova.

The parties discussed a number of negotiation process topical issues. In particular, they spoke about the implementation of previously reached agreements in the social and humanitarian sphere.

Telecommunications and Electrocommunications

Touching upon the implementation of the Protocol decision on measures to organize cooperation in the field of telecommunications and electrocommunications, Vitaly Ignatiev drew attention to the need for consistent progress within the existing roadmap for the implementation of this agreement.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR expressed the hope that in the near future the Moldovan side would take the necessary steps that would allow progress in the practical implementation of the Protocol provisions. The diplomat also stressed the need to hold a meeting of the core expert (working) group in the very near future.

The Participation of PMR Transport in International Road Traffic

Vitaly Ignatiev drew attention of the Moldovan side to the existing problems in the implementation of the mechanism for the participation of Pridnestrovian vehicles in international road traffic. The Minister stated that at present the mechanism was discriminatory due to the Moldovan side’s refusal to allow car owners who did not have driving licenses from the Republic of Moldova to the international movement. In this context, the diplomat called for a speedy search for a solution that would allow to avoid restrictions on Pridnestrovians` rights on the basis of state and legal affiliation.

Politically Motivated Criminal Cases

During the discussion, the head of the Pridnestrovian diplomatic department called on the representatives of the Republic of Moldova to intensify substantive work in terms of resolving the problem of politically motivated criminal cases. Vitaly Ignatiev drew attention to the documented commitment of the Moldovan side to ensure progress in solving this problem in the context of the full implementation of the land use agreement in the Dubossary region of Pridnestrovie.

During the meeting, the interlocutors also discussed the current situation in the field of freight rail traffic, a number of topical issues in the area of ​​ensuring the freedom of foreign economic activity of PMR economic entities. Special attention was paid to the implementation of infrastructure projects, in particular the need for the full use of the road bridge across the Dniester River in the villages of Bychok and Gura-Bykuluy.

At the end of the meeting, Vitaly Ignatiev called on the Moldovan side to maintain the necessary dynamic of the dialogue and to maximize the potential of international mediators and observers in the negotiation process.

In the context of discussing the prospects for holding the next session of the “Permanent Meeting ...” Vitaly Ignatiev confirmed the Pridnestrovian side readiness to participate in the meeting in October 7-8 in Bratislava (Slovakia).
