PRESENTATION OF CULTURE AND EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS OF EUROPEAN COUNTRIES WAS HELD IN T.G. SHEVCHENKO PSU

Diplomats from 13 countries, as well as representatives of international organizations were the guests of the republic

Tiraspol, June, 4. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. At the beginning of June, the PSU has been meeting a large delegation of diplomats from European countries for the second year. Guests present their countries at the site of the university. They tell not only about science, culture, tourism, but also about the possibilities of training in various programs.

A total of diplomats from 13 countries arrived in the meeting with Pridnestrovians: Sweden, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, Germany, France, Italy, Romania, Lithuania, Ireland, Poland, as well as the leadership of the EU Delegation to Moldova and representatives of international organizations.

As the head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Peter Mihalko, noted, foreign diplomats are pleased to have the opportunity to come to Tiraspol and “show people who live here what the European Union is, provide information about it, show what projects we have that we carry out in order to improve people's lives."

This year volunteers helped organize the presentation. These were students of the Faculty of Philology, who spoke foreign languages at a good level. To the question, what was interesting about the event for students, they answer differently.

“They offer their programs here so that students can go to study, for example, in the UK, as well as in other countries,” a third-year student of the Faculty of Philology Elena Kostyuk shared.

In turn, the British Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Lucy Joyce, said that she had been to our republic often and was always happy to visit Pridnestrovie.

“I am pleasantly surprised by the fact that many people asked a lot of questions, spoke English. Each of those whom I spoke with, I asked the question "Do you study English at the university?", and they answered me that they only studied it at school. That's just awesome!” Lucy Joyce shared.

Meeting with delegates from Europe is also of educational interest for philological faculty students. This is a great opportunity to communicate with diplomats in order to test their language skills in practice.

“Acquaintance with the cultures of countries, communication with native speakers is very useful for us, students who study in the direction of "Linguistics"," the first-year student of the Faculty of Philology Irina Eladiy said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR, Vitaly Ignatiev, noted the importance of cooperation with the EU in the field of education and stressed that thanks to such meetings, negative stereotypes about Pridnestrovie were gradually disappearing.

“Our guests present programs, they see young people. It seems to me that this breaks many stereotypes that have developed over almost three decades of unsettled relations with Moldova. I hope that this event and a number of other - cultural, humanitarian, educational ones - will enhance mutual understanding, openness,” Vitaly Ignatiev said.
