The Orthodox feast of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God is a sacred feast for Tiraspol. The Mother of God is considered the city's heavenly protector. A chapel was erected in the center of the capital as part of this feast. The location was no accident. The Church of the Intercession once stood here, destroyed during the tragic years of the atheist era. Festive open-air liturgy is held at the chapel every year on October 14. Clergy and residents arrived at the site of the service in a procession. Archbishop Sawa of Tiraspol and Dubossary led the service. He encouraged parishioners to imagine that the service was taking place within the walls of the Church of the Intercession, whose dome resembled the peaceful sky of Tiraspol. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky joined in the prayer for the well-being of the city, which is under the protection of the Virgin Mary.
A special cancellation ceremony for stamps from the "Churches of Pridnestrovie" series took place, following the service.
