Tiraspol, May 14. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The President visited the Museum of Military Glory created at the initiative of members of Tiraspol Council of veterans of war, work and armed forces. The Head of the state got acquainted with the exposition and communicated to its creators, the presidential press service reports.
This public organization works in Tiraspol since 1999. Its task is to support veterans, preserve history. Also, it is included in public work and patriotic education of youth.
Now the Union of veterans of Tiraspol unites more than one and a half thousand people. From them, 54 are the participants of the Great Patriotic War, the others – home front workers, widows of participants of war, veterans of work and armed forces and also children of war.
Work on the creation of the Museum of Military Glory has begun in 1999. Now, except a large number of photographic materials and other exhibits, the main value of the museum fund are reliable and detailed data on the Tiraspol veterans of the Great Patriotic War, namely their manuscripts. The President recommended keeping their copies also in an electronic form.
The Head of the state discussed with members of the praesidium of the veteran organization other projects planned for the anniversary of the Great Victory. It is offered to release the book about Heroes of the Soviet Union whose destinies were any way connected with Pridnestrovie.
The President also noted that the entrance on cemeteries where there are burials of Heroes of the Soviet Union has to have corresponding information signs. Also, monuments will be updated if necessary.
The Head of the state noted active work of the public organization with youth. On the platform of the Museum of Military Glory meetings with children are held weekly. This year on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Tiraspol from fascist aggressors, the museum was visited by pupils of kindergartens and school students. Children got acquainted with the exposition and listened to veterans stories.
Having highly appreciated public and educational work of members of the veteran organization, the President supported their idea about obligatory placement of information stands about the history of the Great Patriotic War in educational institutions.
Vadim Krasnoselsky thanked members of Tiraspol office of Council of veterans for fruitful work, an active civic stand and valuable suggestions on the organization of celebrations to the 75 anniversary of the Great Victory. According to him, preparation for such a significant date will begin soon.
Vadim Krasnoselsky gave to the Tiraspol Council of veterans of war, work and armed forces the certificate to the acquisition of household appliances and office furniture. Participants of a meeting, in turn, invited the President to the 20 anniversary of the organization in November.
