JCC CHECKED PEACEKEEPER’S CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

Tiraspol, April, 25. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, the Joint Control Commission made a detour of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces posts. This time, representatives of three delegations (Russia, Moldova, Pridnestrovie) and observers (Ukraine, OSCE) inspected 3 posts in the southern section of the Security Zone.

Representatives of the governing body of the peacekeeping operation learned about the conditions in which the military men serve. Special attention was paid to the coherence and interaction of combat units.

After placing the personnel in operational readiness, the servicemen demonstrated in practice how to organize the defense of the post in the event of an attack. Military equipment was also involved.

The leaders of the delegations highly appreciated full operational capability of the units and the organization of the guard service.

“We see that the posts are in good condition, the personnel who serve them are well trained and prepared. The interaction of the Russian, Moldovan and Pridnestrovian components is well organized,” Oleg Belyakov, Co-Chairman of the JCC from Pridnestrovie said in an interview with journalists.

It should be reminded, that such detours are held twice a year. Members of the JCC check posts for their readiness for service in the spring-summer and autumn-winter periods. Before this, representatives of the Joint Headquarters of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces and the Joint Military Command get acquainted with the situation on the posts.

“Since 1992 the main task of these posts is control over the situation in the Security Zone, so that the parties can conduct political dialogue and people live in peace,” the Co-Chair summed up.

Before the detour, the Joint Control Commission held another meeting. A new military observer from the Russian Federation was approved for the post, and a report on the situation in the Security Zone was also heard.

The peacekeeping operation on the Dniester has been implemented since 1992 under the auspices of the Russian Federation. 15 posts of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces function in the security zone of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian conflict.
