PARLIAMENT SPEAKER HOSTED US EMBASSY DELEGATION

Tiraspol, February, 27. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council, Alexander Korshunov, met with US Deputy Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Martin McDowell. Welcoming foreign guests at the parliamentary platform, the speaker expressed hope for the fruitfulness of the upcoming dialogue.

“We are ready for any communication. We would be glad to any dialogue. The Supreme Council develops inter-parliamentary cooperation within the framework of its powers. The activities of the deputies are aimed at improving the welfare of Pridnestrovians through the development of the economy and the investment climate” - the Chairman of the Supreme Council said.

For American diplomats the speaker of the parliament described Pridnestrovie as a multiethnic region, where everyone has equal rights and freedoms.

The parliamentary press service reported that during the meeting, the work of the American Center of Culture at PSU had been the subject of joint discussion.

According to the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Galina Antyufeeva, the United States of America are observers of the negotiation process in the 5 + 2 format. Pridnestrovie is interested in fulfilling all the documents signed during its course.

“The Pridnestrovian side implements the agreements reached consistently, and we would also like to see this from the Republic of Moldova. We expressed our desire that the resolution of issues that are not currently resolved (politically motivated criminal cases against Pridnestrovians, freedom of movement of our citizens) was more actively involved by observers, including from the United States. Deputies of the Supreme Council are doing everything possible to ensure that agreements reached during negotiations receive legislative reinforcement” - Galina Antyufeeva told reporters when commenting on the meeting.

In conclusion, the vice speaker noted that such meetings with international partners are very useful. In this regard, plans for further interaction were outlined. The main thing is that the agreements reached during the negotiations should not remain only on paper, but have a positive effect on the life and welfare of citizens.
