Tiraspol, January, 17. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Last night, the warden of penal institution (PI) No. 12 of the Republic of Moldova, located in Bendery, caused a car accident in the Security Zone. The sergeant of justice of the Republic of Moldova resisted PMR traffic police officers who arrived on the scene. As reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the PMR, he was heavily intoxicated and threatened Pridnestrovian law enforcement authorities with criminal prosecution under the laws of Moldova for having detained him.
At the same time, officer of the penal institution no. 12 of the Republic of Moldova refused to undergo a medical examination, and displayed aggressive behaviour being inside of Bendery police department. As a result, the Moldovan security official spent the night in the department.
Today there was a trial on this case. The court found him guilty under articles 12.8 "Driving while intoxicated ..." and 19.3 p. 2 "Failure to comply with the legal requirements of persons performing official or public duty for the protection of public order and fight against crime, and resistance to them" of PMR Administrative Offences Code. In the near future, it will be decided to deprive the employee of PI No. 12 a driver's license for up to two years.
The law enforcement agencies of the PMR note that this is not the first time that Moldovan security officials operating in the Security Zone show disregard for generally accepted norms of law and order. In the Joint Control Commission and other negotiation platforms the Pridnestrovian side has repeatedly raised the issue of withdrawing the penitentiary institutions of the Republic of Moldova from Bendery - an area with a high security regime.
As of 2019 in Moldova, for political reasons, more than 200 criminal cases were opened against officials, businessmen and ordinary residents of Pridnestrovie. Pridnestrovian policemen were the first to be prosecuted in the Republic of Moldova, and then other officials for fulfilling their official duties: in Moldova they consider this “powers appropriation”.
Over the past years, Pridnestrovie has repeatedly launched an initiative on the mutual cessation of criminal cases. Despite the fact that the obligation to begin to solve the problem is contained in the relevant agreements of the negotiation process, Chisinau did not significantly change its position on this issue.
The problem of criminal cases is one of the priorities in the negotiation agenda of 2019.
