PRIDNESTROVIAN PARLIAMENTARIANS TOOK PART IN THE INTERNATIONAL FORUM OF THE CIS COUNTRIES

At the conference they talked about the role of interaction of political parties factions and blocs in inter-parliamentary cooperation among the CIS countries

Tiraspol, November, 22. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Vice-Speaker of PMR Supreme Council Galina Antyufeeva and chairman of the parliamentary faction “Renovation” Peter Pasat became participants of the international conference in Moscow. The forum talked about the role of interaction of political parties factions and blocs in the inter-parliamentary cooperation of the CIS countries.

The agenda of the conference included issues of national legislations harmonization and shared opposition to emerging challenges and threats. The press service of the Pridnestrovian parliament reports, that the meeting was timed to the 27th anniversary of the CIS foundation.

A forum on this topic was organized for the first time. It was attended by 27 delegations from 10 countries. According to the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Ivan Melnikov, the parliament chairmen hold bilateral meetings regularly.

“We would like to discuss how to activate the possibilities of our inter-parliamentary cooperation. I would like today's conference to also contribute to the intensification of inter-party and inter-factional cooperation” - Ivan Melnikov outlined the goal of the forum.

The head of “Just Russia” faction Sergei Mironov stressed the importance of such meetings against the policy of sanctions and threats that are being held by certain Western countries.

“Unfortunately, not everyone understands the advantages of such a model of cooperation. A number of states cling to old patterns, the clichés of the Cold War, continue to speak in the language of sanctions and information wars” - Mironov stressed.

According to Deputy Chairman of Armenian National Assembly Mikael Melkumyan, parliamentarians should propose new legislative solutions to governments, such as overcoming poverty and unemployment, protecting investments, and supporting small and medium-sized business.

According to Sergey Neverov, head of the “United Russia” faction, the task of inter-parliamentary cooperation is, first of all, to increase the level of trust between countries.

“And this is especially important for the CIS countries. We have much in common. Parliamentary diplomacy is an important tool for protecting and realizing the national interests of a country and its citizens abroad” - Sergei Neverov said.
