PRIDNESTROVIE WAS OFFRERED TO TAKE PART IN A LARGE-SCALE EUROPEAN PROJECT

Among the suggestions received are the experience exchange between EU and Pridnestrovie farmers and scientists, student training and many other things

Tiraspol, October, 23. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today in the Ministry of Agriculture and Nature, the head of the department Efimi Koval met with Olaf Oettinger, representative of a large-scale European project in agriculture from Germany.

Speaking about the purpose of the visit to Pridnestrovie, the guest of the republic noted that three years ago the European Union raised the matter of developing new winter crops of wheat for Europe that are resistant to adverse weather conditions. Olaf Oettinger's suggestion is to involve in the project not only German and European companies, but also Eastern Europe, the press office of the Pridnestrovie Ministry of Agriculture and Nature reported.

The guest’s interest in our republic is based on the fact that in the recent past he lived and studied in Pridnestrovie. He received an education in the field of agriculture. Olaf Ottinger expressed the hope that the project will be able to involve the Pridnestrovian Agricultural Research Institute and Taras Shevchenko Pridnestrovie State University, and organize research work on the project, attract young scientists, researchers, train Pridnestrovian students on the basis of scientific organizations in Europe.

His interest is not limited to testing winter crops of wheat bred in Europe in Pridnestrovie and growing technology. The project involves the exchange of experience of European farmers with agricultural producers of the republic, the exchange of experience between scientists in this field and many other things. As the guest noted, the project will last five or more years. At this moment, documents for studying cooperation proposals and Pridnestrovie participation in the project are being prepared.
