Tiraspol, 3 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Pridnestrovian landowners master innovations in agriculture. Having decided to begin with introduction of zero technology: such model of soil processing allows reaping a big crop at the minimum production costs and harm for the soil and ecology in general.
The British have wanted to share with representatives of agricultural firms of Pridnestrovie the knowledge and experience in application of organic (conservative) agriculture in various climatic conditions: professor Amir Qassam and farmer Tony Reynold. Today in Grigoriopol they will hold a seminar on a subject "Organic (conservative) agriculture. Introduction of zero technologies".
Tony Reynold is engaged in organic agriculture 20 years already. During this time he has managed to appreciate all its advantages.
"One of the main problems in agriculture of many countries – population grows, but the fertility of the soil at the same time decreases. Land cultivating becomes more expensive – chemical fertilizers, pesticides, farm vehicles grow in the price every year. Therefore, we have to find system, which will allow answering these calls – to receive a bigger harvest with smaller expenses. And the key to the solution of all these questions – the healthier the soil is, the more is chance to correct this situation ", - the British farmer is convinced.
By the way, "No-Till" technology or organic (conservative) agriculture provides such method of soil processing when soil isn't plowed, but covered with mulch (crushed remains of vegetable cultures). It allows to reduce dependence of harvest from weather conditions: eddish and crop residue remains hold moisture in the soil longer, reduce evaporation, increase resistance to washouts, water and wind soil erosion.
Besides, application of "No-Till" allows landowners to save resources, which don't directly influence quality and quantity of the harvest.
For example, only the consumption of fuel and lubricants - the most expensive of resources - can be reduced by 70%.
Interest in new cultivation technologies gradually grows in Pridnestrovie, Ministry of Agriculture's head Efimy Koval has noted at the meeting with foreign guests. From 204 thousand hectares of an arable land, organic agriculture is conducted on 30 thousand hectares today.
Though it is fully possible to feel results of zero technology usage only after long introduction and development of organic agriculture (at least in 5 years), even in the first year landowners use to obtain considerable progress.
"If at the beginning the productivity is not really high – plowing, recultivation are applied, then now the productivity is even higher on these sites, especially this year when there have been almost no rainfall", - the head of relevant department has paid attention.
Agro Compact (Grigoriopol district) has become pioneer of "No-Till" technology in our republic. Its still modest progress has inspired other agricultural enterprises.
"Many enterprises show interest. We direct them in this movement because the methods used in modern agricultural production allow both to receive production and to keep the environment", - Ministry of Agriculture’s deputy minister Oleg Diligul has emphasized.
Whether the British experts quicken interest in advantages of organic agriculture of Pridnestrovian agrarians, it will become known later. "But even if 10% understand these advantages and introduce at on their acres, there will already be a certain progress in the sphere of agriculture", - Efimy Koval has noticed.
The seminar will be held next two days. Tomorrow Amir Qassam and Tony Reynold will host a meeting with scientific community of the republic.
