Tiraspol, 17 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. There is no question of discussing any political settlement of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian conflict. Pridnestrovie is heading for independence and recognition, whereas Moldova aims to absorb our republic. Therefore, the parties are not ready to discuss the issues of the so-called "third basket" of the agenda of the negotiations. This is what President Vadim Krasnoselsky said today speaking to the advisory board of the first Supreme Council members.

"We can't open the 'third basket' and discuss any political settlement. No one is ready for this. We are pursuing a course of independence, recognition and subsequent integration with Russia. This is the choice of the people, which was expressed in a referendum and is enshrined in the Constitution. And I, as president, have no right to violate neither the Constitution nor the laws but must be a conductor of our law provisions. Therefore, I have no right to talk about any political status," underscored the president.

Vadim Krasnoselsky also added that the president acts in the interests of citizens and "when the people change their position, or when the legislation is changed, then the president may have the right to do it."

The Moldovan legislation works in the same way. There, the pro-Western government has repeatedly pointed to the Moldovan president's legal inability to change the course of the state's development.

"Just today I have read the Moldovan government's response to an application for membership [in observer status] in the Eurasian Union. So they bluntly said that he was there as an individual citizen. The president has no right to change the course of the state because it is clearly prescribed by law. Right or wrong, but the law must be observed," said the head of state.

The current internal situation in Moldova, the geopolitical uncertainty of the branches of power emphasise once again that it is impossible to conduct a political dialogue and discuss any status of Pridnestrovie, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted. The president recalled that more than 10 years ago Chisinau had documented its vision of Pridnestrovie's fate, and it was clearly at odds with the desires and aspirations of the Pidnestrovians themselves.

"Moldova adopted a law in 2005, granting us the status of a reservation without any attributes of statehood - flag, national emblem and anthem. This law has not been repealed, and the Socialist Party, which has representatives in the Moldovan Parliament, is not going to change it or initiate its changes. Therefore, everything is clear in this regard," Vadim Krasnoselsky maintained.
