Bendery, 17 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. At its regular meeting today, the Joint Control Commission (JCC) considered an organisational issue and heard a report of the military command about the situation in the Security Zone.
"We see a clear interaction of the JCC, peacekeepers and law enforcement agencies in the Security Zone. So, on 15 May a number of shells were seized in Bendery. This interaction shows that our work continues in the right direction," said Oleg Belyakov, Pridnestrovie's co-chairman to the JCC.
The parties also continued consultations today on the activities of law enforcement agencies in the area of the Bychok-Gura Bicului bridge. The delegations stuck to their positions. The Moldovan representatives advocate the complete removal of law enforcement posts, while the Pridnestrovian delegation notes that this issue is not within the JCC's jurisdiction and calls their counterparts to avoid politicising it.
"These debates the Moldovan side engage in, connecting them to some political aspects, are still surprising us. They have nothing to do with the peacekeeping operation." The bridge functions in a normal mode; vehicles and people cross it; those functions that are assigned to the JCC are being carried out in full," the co-chairman added.
