Tiraspol, 20 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The foreign minister of the PMR, Vitaly Ignatyev, met the delegation of the Swedish embassy to Moldova led by ambassador Signe Burgstaller.
Welcoming the guests, Vitaly Ignatiev highly appreciated the Swedish side's desire to develop contacts with Pridnestrovie. "I expect that we will continue to expand cooperation in such important areas as social, humanitarian and cultural cooperation," added Ignatyev.
The accent was made on the joint implementation of humanitarian projects in Pridnestrovie under the auspices of the Swedish Agency for Development and International Cooperation (SIDA) and a number of relevant UN agencies. They talked about projects aimed at supporting people with disabilities and people living with HIV / AIDS, as well as about counteracting violence against women.
Vitaly Ignatyev expressed hope for further development of cooperation and assistance of the Swedish side in implementing important social and humanitarian programs, the foreign ministry's press service reports.
The interlocutors discussed the current situation in the negotiation process between Transnistria and Moldova. Ignatyev stressed that it was important for the sides and international mediators to make efforts to maintain the positive dynamics of the dialogue and achieve further progress, including within the framework of the implementation of the provisions of the Vienna Protocol.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain cooperation on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
