Volgograd and Tiraspol sign cooperation plan

A long-term strategy for strengthening and developing partnership relations was approved during a visit of the Pridnestrovian delegation to the Russian city

Tiraspol, 13 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Throughout 2017, the state administration of Tiraspol and Dnestrovsk carried out active work to restore twin-city relations with the cities of Russia, in particular, with Volgograd. Representatives of the Pridnestrovian capital were invited to take part in the festivities dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the defeat by the Red Army of Nazi troops in the Battle of Stalingrad, which took place from 1 to 3 February.

During the visit, the Tiraspol delegation and Volgograd's City Duma drafted and signed a plan for cooperation between the two cities, aimed at developing cooperation in the sphere of economy, education, culture and sport. Tiraspol was represented by the deputy head of the city for economic development and entrepreneurship, Irina Olkhovik, and the first deputy chairman of the Tiraspol City Council, Maxim Chertykovtsev, the Tiraspol State Administration's websites reports.

In an interview with news agency Novosti Pridnestrovya, Irina Olkhovik specified that the document covers 2018-2019. It is supposed to cooperate in the sphere of economy, culture, sport, youth policy and education, as well as exchange information about exhibitions, fairs and conferences held in the two cities. The relevant information will be available on the official websites of Tiraspol and Volgograd.

"In addition, we are working on the possibility of obtaining education and organising training courses for Tiraspol's urban specialists in Volgograd. We will be happy to see the children from this Russian city in Pridnestrovian children's health improvement summer camps. The participation of the Vatra Folklore Dance Group, widely known both in Pridnestrovie and abroad, in the celebration of Volgograd's City Day [on September 9] and other Pridnestrovian artistic groups are also expected," said Irina Olkhovik.
