Tiraspol, October 16. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovie's capital celebrated its 225 anniversary on October 14. Tiraspol celebrated its anniversary among the guests who had arrived from its twin-cities and also from the cities of the International Assembly of Capitals and Cities.
By the way, Tiraspol has town twinning agreements with the cities of the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Republic of Belarus, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Germany, Moldova, Gagauzia, Israel and Portugal.
The first Russian science city Obninsk and Tiraspol have been on friendly terms for more than 25 years, and this friendship has been based on culture. As the deputy head of Obninsk city administration on social issues Tatyana Popova tells, today Obninsk citizens don't imagine their City Day without on-stage performance groups from Tiraspol. They bring festive mood with them.
And performing artists from Obninsk Lidiya Muzalyova and Igor Milyukov are well-loved in Tiraspol. They are merited artists not only in Russia, but also in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
"City of Obninsk is still very young. It is only 61 years old, and your capital is 225. There is something we can learn and borrow from Tiraspol, and we always do it. Last time, when our delegation visited Tiraspol, we took the director of our bread-baking complex with us. He had visited your complex, had checked out the technologies, and after that a new manufacturing line appeared in the Obninsk factory. The idea was borrowed from you," Tatyana Popova tells.
The Russian guest also shared impressions of work in the industry-specific sections of the field meeting of the International Assembly of Capitals and Cities which had been held in Tiraspol on October 13.
"The conference has been very representative. Our delegation worked in the Socially Oriented Business Section. This focus area is very relevant everywhere because if the business exists only for itself, it will stop its existence sooner or later. If it exists for people, as the President of Russia Vladimir Putin has recently
told during his speech, it will develop, and the people will also welcome the development of such business. Creation of conditions and understanding at business is a task of the state authorities. You carry out this task successfully, and we try to follow you," Popova notes.
