Russia's State Duma discusses industrial loan to Pridnestrovie

According to the prime minister, Pridnestrovian manufacturers need material support equivalent to $60 million

Tiraspol, 18 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The head of the Pridnestrovian government, Alexander Martynov, told the president about the Russian-Pridnestrovian contacts at the governmental level, the president's press service reports.

"In the State Duma we discussed the provision of assistance to Pridnestrovie, and this is not only about allocating finances. The first thing to do is the assistance of experts. This is necessary to develop our economy more efficiently and qualitatively and to build regulatory policies. In this regard, we raised one more time the question of the work of the Analytical Centre under the Russian government. Now an audit company is finishing the analysis of Pridnestrovie's finances. Based on the results of this work, further decisions will be made on the provision of financial assistance to Pridnestrovie, its form and amount. Besides, we discussed the issue of attracting investment to Pridnestrovie," noted Martynov.

The prospects of providing a technical loan to Pridnestrovie for the development of industrial enterprises were also discussed in Moscow. According to Martynov, Pridnestrovian manufacturers need financial backing in the amount of $60 million. These funds are needed to upgrade and modernise equipment, increase working capital, volumes of production and exports. "All this will affect the revenue of the Pridnestrovian budget," underscored Martynov.

Another important issue for the government is the limit of funds in the Russian budget that can be allocated for financial assistance. "It is important for us that funding be clear and systemic," underscored Martynov.

"We voiced one more time that Pridnestrovie is now maximally open for Russia: two audit companies are working at the same time here. This position met, as far as we understand, a positive reception from Russian MPs. They welcome this work. We'll keep it going. We also had a meeting in one of the audit companies," Martynov told the president.

He also said that the government was in the process of finalising the concept of reforming Pridnestrovie's budgetary process, whose developers had taken into account all the conclusions, suggestions and recommendations of the Russian auditors, seeking to maximise transparency and openness.

The president praised the outcome of the working visit of the legislative and executive branches of power and drew the attention of the leaders to the need to give more publicity to the activities of state bodies.

"The most important thing for Pridnestrovian citizens is confidence in the future and that Russia will always be here. The population must know what the country's leadership is doing in this direction," underscored Krasnoslesky.
