President meets Russia's State Duma member Mikhail Krotov

Tiraspol, 30 August. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Krasnoselsky has met today the secretary of Russia's State Duma committee on CIS, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, Mikhail Krotov.

The Russian MP has come to Pridnestrovie to celebrate its 27th anniversary. Yesterday the Russain guest took part in the holiday of the 55th Podolsk Infantry Regiment, the president's press service reports.

Krotov conveyed the kindest regards of the State Duma's leadership to Vadim Krasnoselsky, noting that Russian-Pridnestrovian relations were the focus of attention for the Russian palriament.

He recalled that the State Duma had passed a statement on Pridnestrovie, which expresses the will of the entire Russian people. The document adopted by Russian MPs expresses a categorical outrage at Moldova's attempts to unfreeze the conflict, as well as the socio-economic and humanitarian blockade caused by Moldovan actions against Pridnestrovie.

«The attitude of Russian parliamentarians remains the same, that is, to ensure on all fronts the deepest and most solid ties between the PMR and Russia. All State Duma committees feel concern about Pridnestrovie," underscored Krotov.

Vadim Krasnoselsky noted the importance of the State Duma's assistance and support for the PMR. «With optimism we embraced the Russian parliament's statement on the situation in Pridnestrovie. It is encouraging that the vote was unanimous," said the president.

Krasnoselsky stated that a new agenda was being created around Pridnestrovie by both Moldova and Ukraine.

«There is a war in Ukraine, and it is no matter through whose fault but people are killed. It happens within only 600 km from Pridnestrovie. It is close," said the president, noting that at the same time Moldova was making unreasonable decisions.

He recalled the Moldovan Constitutional Court's decision declaring Russian peacekeepers in Pridnestrovie invaders. The court imputes to all Moldovan officials to apply any political and diplomatic measures, including military ones, to resolve the problem. Implementation of this decision is mandatory.

Krasnoselsky noted that it was categorically impossible to replace the format of the Russian peacekeeping mission. «The events dedicated to the holiday of the 55th Podolsk Regiment aimed to show the history of Russia's peacemaking in the region which has not lasted for the past 25 years but extends to several centuries," said the president.

The sides also discussed the concerns of Russian citizens and compatriots living in Pridnestrovie. According to Krasnoselsky, Russian MPs can contribute to solving these problems.

The issue of granting Russian citizenship to compatriots living abroad, particularly young people born after 1992, was discussed in the State Duma. Krasnoselsky stated that as a result of the geopolitical catastrophe — the collapse of the Soviet Union — many compatriots had been torn away from their historic homeland.

«It was not our fault. Many consider themselves to be descendants of the great Motherland — both the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. For various reasons many Pridnestrovians have obtained the citizenship of Ukraine and Moldova, without actually considering themselves to be citizens of these states. Russian citizenship was difficult to obtain, but it was necessary to travel, to study abroad. But today many want to acquire Russian citizenship. Many Pridnestrovians consider themselves to be Russians in terms of ethnicity and nationality. The ancestors of many of them were born and used to live in Russia," said the president.

Another issue of concern is the use of maternal capital in Pridnestrovie. Russian citizens have the right to maternal capital and receive a certificate. Problems arise when applying the capital. Krasnoselsky proposes to use the capital for paying tuition fees, particularly at the Pridnestrovian State University. The university's diplomas are recognised in Russia. PSU is a member of the Union of Slavic Universities.

The acquiring of the Russian health insurance policy by Russian citizens living in Pridnestrovie was another subject discussed at the meeting.

«Pridnestrovie is in a difficult situation today. The country faces external challenges and threats. That is why the support of the Russian Federation in the above-mentioned areas would be relevant to us. In this part, we are looking forward to Russian MPs' assistance," underscored the president.
