Tiraspol, 29 August. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Kishinev authorities continue to escalate the situation around Pridnestrovie, blocking the negotiating process, trying to restrict Pridnestrovie's contacts and set up information isolation. Under these circumstances there are no arguments in favour of what can bring Moldova and Pridnestrovie together, President Krasnoselsky said during a press conference.
«Just name at least one argument which can unite Pridnestrovie and Moldova today. There are none. So I advise our Moldovan colleagues to avoid politics — you are not ready for political solutions themselves; engage in rapprochement, economics, culture, humanitarian sphere. There are lots of issues. And what do we hear in response? Such statements? Border posts and another escalation, decisions by the Constitutional Court and the parliament. What shall we do? The only way out is to hold on to our statehood," underscored the president.
The journalists also asked the president to comment on Moldova's plans to take under control the abroad trips of the Pridnestrovian leadership. The official Kishinev put forth this initiative after our delegation, led by Krasnoselsky, visited the UK Foreign Office.
Krasnoselsky noted that Pridnestrovie was a member of the negotiating process with equal rights and obligations, and Moldova's desire to isolate the PMR was considered as a unilateral act to infringe the country.
«We've been to London, Oxford Union and Foreign Office. Why are they so frightened? Because we are consistent and because the president speaks about independence everywhere — in London, Moscow, Kishinev and Tiraspol, and we do not change our position depending on the negotiating platform? We speak consistently and reasonably. Those officials, diplomats and ambassadors with whom I have a dialogue they begin to think and realise there is much truth in our words, and, above all, they listen to us and want to engage in dialogue with us, which makes Moldova nervous," noted the president, adding that despite Moldova's pressure Pridnestrovie would all possible ways to present itself.
The president was also asked if he was ready to meet the Moldovan leadership and discuss the relevant issues of the negotiating agenda. Krasnoselsky answered that Pridnestrovie did not need meetings for the sake of meetings. «We need these meetings to be functional so that we can move forward," said the president.
But in fact, the Kishinev authorities promise one thing and do the other. One of the last «good-neighbourly» decisions by Moldova was to launch a mechanism for monitoring persons going to Pridnestrovie from Ukraine. In the event of the refusal of a foreign citizen to have a date-stamp mark in the passport, Moldovan border police officers warn him that after 72 hours of stay in Moldova without getting registered at the Bureau of Migration and Asylum of Moldova, he will be brought to administrative liability.
Earlier, Kishinev had repeatedly stated that over the first six months only exports by Pridnestrovian economic entities would be subject to control.
«The president promised there would be nothing of the kind. No problem. And then came the posts. This is the example of real action. We will not tolerate the infringement of Pridnestrovian citizens, regardless of nationality. If these measures harm Pridnestrovian citizens in any way, I assure you we'll take asymmetrical measures," said Krasnoselsky.
